Why not embrace the attitude of gratitude and foster personal contentment?

Can we recognize how fortunate we already are, how much we have, the gifts we have been given?  Once the basic necessities are taken care of, isn't everything else icing on the cake and truly unnecessary?

Aren't the best things in life really free?

Are we lacking for anything?

How do we compare our self to others?

Don't we frequently compare our situation and circumstances to those around us, and quickly become dissatisfied with our state versus others?

How often have we said this isn't fair, I deserve more, especially when others get what we don't?

Why don't I have what they have or why am I not as good as this other person?

"The secret of contentment is the realization that life is a gift, not a right."
